Top shipping questions: How do you ship? We use FedEx and UPS to ship overnight nationwide.
Why is your shipping better than competitors? Our base shipping, for most of the country, gets the packages delivered before noon. Our competitors charge a surcharge for this higher level of service, it gets the packages out of UPS’s/FedEx’s hands sooner, and results in much few problems in delivery.
Why don’t you use cheaper two day or three day service for deliveries? Gel packs only protect the shipment for a day, chocolate items will melt and fruit will go bad quickly if not protected from heat. Using multi day methods results in disappointed customers: we’d rather have every one of our customers be happy .
Where do you ship? Inside the US only, you must have a real address, not a PO box (unless it’s a campus PO box if the school accepts UPS/FedEx deliveries), we do ship to Hawaii and Alaska but they may be extremely expensive.
Do you offer free Shipping? No it’s used as a lure into what is known as the “Easy Saver Scam”. Free shipping is currently the cause for two class action lawsuits in the perishable gift industry. Basically the customers who fell for it are saying they were scammed.
How much is shipping? Shipping is based on weight, distance and speed. There are three basic zones for strawberries and chocolate items and each type of box has it’s own weight. (so it's a very complicated rate table). Exact shipping is calculated during checkout when you select the delivery state.
Here are some sample prices (Continental US): For the half dozen, smaller half dozen combo boxes and one dozen strawberry boxes the shipping ranges from 13.50 to $19.50. One dozen roses is $17.99 Two dozen roses is $19.99 If you order larger gifts (by weight and volume) the shipping increases.
Any time you see a shipping rate table that shows rates based by the cost of the product you should suspect it: it costs more to ship a brick than a diamond. FedEx and UPS change by distance, weight and how fast it needs to get delivered: not cost of the product.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries and flowers are very perishable and must be shipped correctly to preserve freshness. There is no same day delivery.
Due to our high volume of shipments we receive large discounts (over 64% off the average national rates) with our shippers and pass the discounted rates directly to you. The overnight shipping needed to preserve freshness is not inexpensive but results in a much better product.
Exact shipping quotes are provided at checkout based on the service level selected, delivery address and weight of the package. UPS and FedEx both charge based on the weight of the package and how far it has to travel, any time you see shipping charges based on how expensive the product is you should question it: because FedEx/UPS charge more to ship a brick than a diamond.
Due to customs restrictions we can not ship outside the USA. Delivery addresses must be a physical US address, no PO boxes , no APO/FPO boxes or rural route boxes.
No delivery is available on Sunday's, Monday's, Holidays, or the day after Holidays. (any day FedEx/UPS are closed and the day after FedEx/UPS is closed).
Why must strawberries ship with expedited service? We could put an extremely long and technical reason here, but a quick and simple way to think about it is: would you want a strawberry that you forgot in a cars trunk for three or four days? Of course not. We want your shipment to arrive in the best condition possible, that is why we ship using expedited service and always use gel packs. To ship using any other way would be second best and would result in people not being happy with the product.
The cut off time for shipments with today's date is 2PM Eastern, but on some Holidays we may stop taking orders early due to heavy volume.
Shipping charges for the 1/2 dozen boxes are the same as the 1 dozen boxes, this is because the charges are based on the trip and not the weight of the box.
